I know it's not the Waves plugins, because I'm also running ProTools 11 64 bit, with 64 bit Waves plugins and I can stack dozens in a session with no playback issues at all. Waves, to my opinion and experience, consume very little resources. I've got a collection of Waves VST plugins, my primary working soft is VP11, secondary VP14, everything 64bit, and I totally don't understand the problems described, never encountered any.
